On a perfect fall day last October, Adventures In Design hit record with an artist that celebrates the seasons, change, death, decay and life as they are one in the same and always using her work to remind us that all of these themes are not too far away from one another. Hear Mark work Tegan through her entire illustration process; if you think her work is as amazing as we do, this is a conversation not to miss.

Adventures In Design celebrated the 700th episode with one of our own, illustrator and storyteller James Flames joins us to share how he has found storytelling to be a reliable device to make his work stick out and keeping him having fun. Learning how James has illustrated his life's stories will hopefully teach us all how to tell our own better.

Today hear Mark Brickey, and Mitch Putnam not only look back on the evolution of AID but how these two designers have made their work known around the world and become two of the most respected names in illustration, movie posters and printmaking.

At the start of 2016, Tom Whalen joined us and recapped his career achievements of 2015 from creating posters for Guardians of The Galaxy, Pac-Man and Sponge Bob to doing his first ever full title cover for Marvel Comics. Surprisingly 2015 was Tom’s first year of full-time freelance, and we hear all about the migration away from the man’s paycheck.

From April 2016 Jason Munn has built a quiet style of observation and substitution in the spaces between the louder moments of our lives. The simplicity in his work speaks volumes about the confidence the ideas behind his design and the subtlety in the communication of it. Join AID as we sit down with Jason to hear about his career and his rise in the world of rock posters.

January 2014 Jay Shaw stopped by and talked about his graphic design-heavy poster style, he also shared info on his at the time new job at Mondo as a designer and soon to be an art director. However, the moment that four years later still goes down as one of the best stories ever told on Adventures In Design was the details on his first ever “design job.”

July 2014 Sonny Day stopped by Mark’s house in Los Angeles while working his way from Australia to Austin, Texas for his upcoming solo art show Mind Intern. Sonny shares how the loss of his dad opened him up emotionally to feelings that he decided not to ignore but pour into his artwork.

World's Greatest Poster Artists Volume 1
Episode 1 Kevin Tong & Matt Taylor

Back in 2012 when Adventures In Design was just a hobby Mark and Billy recorded with Kevin Tong for the 13th episode and was intrigued by a career that everyone could tell was destined for greatness. Hear the trio look at the early years of Kevin's work and rise to the top of the illustration and poster scene.

2013 not only added James Flames to the regular rotation but guests were hanging out for the Shop Talk segment at the end of the episode, the part that many early listeners claimed to be their favorite segment. A relatively unknown Matt Taylor would hang out with the guys for two hours, and everyone would walk away not only impressed by his strong work and strong work ethic but his character of being a very likable human being.

Today hear Mark Brickey, and Mitch Putnam not only look back on the evolution of AID but how these two designers have made their work known around the world and become two of the most respected names in illustration, movie posters and printmaking.
